2009 Season: Appeared in six games as a quarterback, including a pair of starts…also served as the team’s holder on kicks in all 11 games…led the Hornets to a come-from-behind victory over UC Davis after entering the game to start the second half…completed 19-of-29 passes for 223 yards and two touchdowns against the Aggies…final touchdown pass came with 20 seconds remaining…also rushed for a TD in the Causeway Classic…earned the start at Northern Colorado and Montana State…threw for 269 yards on a career-high 41 pass attempts against the Bobcats…all four of his touchdowns came in the final three games of the year…completed 56-of-92 passes for 635 yards in the that span…completed a 39-yard pass to Brandyn Reed against MSU and UCD for his season long…longest rush was 19 yards at Northern Colorado.
2008 Season: Competed in four games at quarterback, including two starts before injuring his knee…finished the season 28-of-49 for 415 yards and two touchdowns…biggest game came in his start against Southern Oregon where he was 19-of-32 for 255 yards and a score…also started the following week against Weber State…had three passes of at least 27 yards, including a 67-yard TD to Tony Washington against WSU and a 56-yard pass to Washington against SOU…rushed for 33 yards on 16 carries…had a rushing touchdown against Southern Oregon.
Prior to Sacramento State: Attended UCLA for two years…appeared in five games for the Bruins during the 2007 season, including a start at QB in the Las Vegas Bowl against BYU…completed 11-of-27 passes for 154 yards and a touchdown in that game…redshirted during the 2006 season.
High School: A 2006 graduate of Balboa HS in San Francisco…lettered three seasons (2003-2005) in football for coach Keith Minor…selected first-team all-city, player of the year and all-metro after his senior season…threw for 2,100 yards, 22 touchdowns and six interceptions as a senior…as a junior, he was named first-team all-city and back of the year…threw for 1,800 yards, 19 touchdowns and nine interceptions that season…also lettered in baseball, basketball and soccer…named second-team all-city in baseball after hitting .610 with two home runs as a senior.
Personal: Born 7-3-88…majoring in history…parents are Patricia Thompson and Mark Bethel…grandfather, Wilbur Thompson, won an Olympic gold medal in the shot put in the 1948 games.
