NASH EARNS NATIONAL, BIG SKY PLAYER OF WEEK HONORS

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Sacramento State senior Zack Nash was selected as the Football Championships Subdivision National Defensive Player of the Week by The Sports Network and College Football Performance Awards, was the Big Sky Conference Defensive Player of the Week, and a member of the College Sports News All-Stars it was announced on Monday.
Nash earned the honors after helping the Hornets to a 24-9 victory over Idaho State at Hornet Stadium on Saturday. The defensive end had five sacks and six tackles-for-loss in the win, piloting a Hornet defense which recorded 10 sacks in the game.
Nash also planted his name in the Hornet record book in several categories. The Vacaville, Calif., native became the school's all-time leader in career sacks with 29.5. His effort against ISU, moved him ahead of Kelly Osborn (25.5) and Mike Brannon (27.5). Nash also tied his own school records for single-game sacks and tackles-for-loss. He previously recorded the same statistics at Idaho State in 2010.
Against the Bengals, Nash finished the game with a season best eight tackles and also forced a fumble.
The Big Sky honor is the third of Nash's career.
The senior will close his collegiate career on Saturday when Sacramento State hosts UC Davis in the 58th annual Pepsi Causeway Classic. The game against the Aggies will kick off at 1:05 p.m. from Hornet Stadium.
