8/23/2011

SACRAMENTO, Calif. —
The Sacramento State football team will have a new radio home in 2011 as the athletic department has signed a two-year contract with Classic 93.1 (KHLX).

The new station, which is part of the Clear Channel family, will provide a strong signal to listeners throughout the greater Sacramento area extending as far south as Stockton and west into Fairfield.

"We are very excited to be able to partner with Classic 93.1 for the upcoming season," Sacramento State Director of the Athletics Terry Wanless said. "Our goal during this process was to find a station that will provide strong coverage for our fans in and around Sacramento."

As part of the agreement, each of Sacramento State's 11 regular season football games will begin with a 15-minute pregame show. There will also be a postgame recap which will feature game highlights.

Classic 93.1 and its sister station, KFBK 1530 AM, will also provide promotions during the week providing information for the upcoming game. KFBK sports director Pat Walsh will air an interview with Hornet head coach Marshall Sperbeck during each week beginning on Aug. 29.

Along with Classic 93.1, Sacramento State football games can also be heard on KAHI 950 AM in the foothills. The addition of KAHI to the Hornet Radio Network will allow Sacramento State football games to be heard over the radio from Lake Tahoe into the San Joaquin Valley.

Sacramento State begins its season on Saturday, Sept. 3, against Oregon State at 1 p.m. The team's first home game will come on Saturday, Sept. 24, against Montana.
