SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Sacramento State seniors Zack Nash and Bryan Hilliard were each recognized as preseason Football Championship Subdivision All-Americans by Consensus Draft Services, it was announced on Monday. Nash was a first team selection on defense while Hilliard was placed on the offensive second team.
Nash was one of two defensive ends named to the first team. The Vacaville, Calif., native is coming off of a junior season in which he led the nation in tackles-for-loss per game (1.5) and was a second team All-American by The Sports Networl and Associated Press. During 2010, Nash set the Sacramento State record with 13.0 sacks and finished the season with 37 total tackles. He also set the school record by forcing six fumbles and the school single-game mark with five sacks against Idaho State.
Hilliard enters 2011 ranked third in school history with 2,791 career rushing yards and 31 career rushing touchdowns. A three-time all-Big Sky Conference selection, Hilliard rushed for 883 yards and 12 touchdowns as a junior despite playing in just nine games. His season was highlighted by a six-game stretch in which he rushed for over 100 yards in each game. The Sacramento native now has 14 career 100-yard games which places him third in school history behind All-Americans Charles Roberts (29) and Troy Mills (15).
Sacramento State begins the 2011 season on Saturday, Sept. 3, at Oregon State. The team will then play at Southern Utah and Weber State before hosting Montana on Sept. 24 in its home opener.
