FOOTBALL MAKES ALEK TALIULU FIRST SIGNEE OF 2011 RECRUITING CLASS

1/4/2011

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The Sacramento State football team signed Alek Taliulu to a National Letter of Intent. Taliulu will enroll at the Unviersity for the spring semester and will have two seasons of eligibility remaining.

"Alek is a very physical presence in the middle who will help us immediately at linebacker," Sacramento State head coach Marshall Sperbeck said. "We are excited to get him and I think he will help fill that void left by (the graduation of) Peter Buck."

Taliulu played the past two seasons at Fresno City College. In 2010, the 6-foot-2, 225-pounder tallied 37 tackles for the Rams in nine games. Taliulu also added 5.5 tackles-for-loss.

Taliulu graduated from Tehachapi High School in 2008 where he was a two-time all-league selection. He helped the Warriors to the section title as a senior, totaling 138 tackles from his middle linebacker position. As a junior, he tallied 144 total tackles.
