NASH VOTED SECOND TEAM ALL-AMERICA BY THE SPORTS NETWORK/FATHEAD.COM

12/22/2010

SACRAMENTO, Calif. —
Sacramento State defensive end Zack Nash continued to add to his ever-growing list of accomplishments on Wednesday as he was named to The Sports Network/Fathead.com All-America second team. The honor is just the latest for Nash who also earned second team All-America recognition from the Associated Press and was a unanimous first team all-Big Sky Conference selection.

In 2010, Nash started all 11 games for the Hornets and led the Big Sky in both sacks and tackles-for-loss. The Vacaville, Calif., native tallied a school-record 13.0 sacks and 16.5 tackles-for-loss during the year. His average of 1.18 sacks per game placed him fourth in the Football Championship Subdivision.

Nash becomes only the third Hornet to earn All-America accolades from both The Sports Network and the Associated Press in the same season. Running back Charles Roberts was a first team selection by both agencies in 1999 and was named to the second team by each group in 1998. Offensive lineman Jon Osterhout was named to The Sports Network first team and the AP second team in 1999.

The Big Sky Conference led all leagues with 16 selections on the first, second and third teams. The Colonial Athletic Association was second with 13.

The Sports Network/Fathead.com All-America team is compiled on a vote of sports information and media relations directors, broadcasters, writers and other dignitaries who routinely cover the Football Championship Subdivision.

A complete list of all three teams is below. The announcement of each quarterback position will come following the announcement of the Walter Payton Award. The candidates are Western Illinois' Matt Barr, Stephen F. Austin's Jeremy Moses and Appalachian State's DeAndre Presley.
