FOOTBALL CLOSES OUT SPRING BALL WITH GREEN-GOLD GAME ON SATURDAY

5/2/2008

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The Sacramento State football team will close out its 2008 spring practice with the annual Green-Gold Game on Saturday at Hornet Stadium. The team will take to the field at 10 a.m. and the game will start at 11 a.m.

Despite a rash of recent injuries which has depleted the team’s depth, Sacramento State plans on running around 50 plays during the game. Similar to the two previous scrimmages, the offense will start each drive from a designated point on the field.

The one difference in this game is the fact that both teams will have the opportunity to score points. The offense will score one point for a first down, three for a field goal, six for a touchdown and either one or two points for a conversion. The defense can score one point for a stop, two for a fourth-down stop, three for a three-and-out, six for a turnover and 10 for a touchdown.

Following the scrimmage, children in eighth grade or younger are invited to take part in on-field drills. Members of the Sacramento State team will lead the instruction at five different stations and help teach the fundamentals of the game.
