FOOTBALL UNVEILS 2007 SCHEDULE

 SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Two games against teams from the Football Bowl Series (formerly Div. I-A) highlight the 2007 Sacramento State football schedule, which was announced today.
The Hornets open the year at Fresno State on Sept. 1, marking the first matchup against the Bulldogs since 1972. After an open week, Sacramento State begins Big Sky Conference play on Sept. 15 at Portland State. The game against the Vikings will be the earliest the Hornets have started league play since playing at Montana on Sept. 11, 1999. Life on the road continues on Sept. 23 as Sacramento State travels to Albuquerque, N.M., to take on New Mexico. The Lobos finished last season with a 6-6 regular-season record and played in the New Mexico Bowl.
The Hornets’ first home game will come on Sept. 29 against Northern Arizona. The team, however, returns to the road the following week at Weber State. Homecoming will come on Oct. 13 against perennial power Montana. Last season, the Grizzlies posted a 12-2 overall record and advanced to the Football Championship Series semifinals. The team’s lone regular season loss came at the hands of Iowa in the season opener.
Sacramento State will keep its attention on the “Treasure State” the next week as it travels to Montana State on Oct. 20. The team will then play back-to-back home games against Eastern Washington and UC Davis beginning on Oct. 27. The matchup against UC Davis on Nov. 3 will serve as the 54th Causeway Classic.
The final two games of the regular season will come on Nov. 10 at Northern Colorado and Nov. 17 against Idaho State. The trip to Greeley, Colo., will be the first for Sacramento State.
Another change this season is that all of Sacramento State’s five home games will start at 2:05 p.m.
