FORMER HORNET CHARLES ROBERTS EARNS CFL HONOR

SACRAMENTO, Calif. --- Former Sacramento State running back Charles Roberts was named to the 2005 CFL West Division All-Star team it was announced today. The Winnipeg Blue Bomber was one of two running backs named to the team which was comprised of 12 total offensive players.

Roberts, who is the all-time leading rusher in Sacramento State history, amassed a career best 1,624 yards on 290 carries and 12 rushing touchdowns in 2005. All three marks led the CFL. He also led the league in yards from scrimmage with 2,098.

All-star selections were made by members of the Football Reporters of Canada from each CFL market, a national chapter of FRC voters and each of the CFL head coaches.

In other CFL news, former Hornet Ricky Ray is looking to make his third consecutive trip to the Grey Cup. The quarterback will lead Edmonton against Calgary on Sunday, Nov. 13. Ray suffered a loss in the Grey Cup in 2002 before leading the Eskimos to the title in 2003. He left the team in 2004 to join the New York Jets before returning during the past spring.
