2/6/2005

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. --- Former Sacramento State offensive lineman Lonie Paxton won his third Super Bowl ring in the New England Patriots'' 24-21 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday night.

Paxton, who is in his fifth season with the Patriots, served as the team''s long snapper on all punts and field goals. His final two snaps helped seal the game for New England. First on Adam Vinatieri''s 22-yard field goal which gave the team a 10-point lead and then on a punt which was downed on the Eagles'' 4-yard line with under a minute on the clock.

Paxton won his first Super Bowl in 2002 against the St. Louis Rams. In that game, he was the snapper on Vinatieri''s kick as time expired. Last season, Paxton injured his knee and was not active for the team''s victory over Carolina.

While at Sacramento State, Paxton was a starter on the offensive line and was also the team''s long snapper.
