SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The Sacramento State football team announced the hiring of Max Glowacki as the team’s tight ends/offensive tackles coach, it was announced today by head coach Steve Mooshagian.Glowacki comes to the Hornets with an impressive resume as both a coach and player. Most recently, he served as a graduate assistant coach at Michigan for the 2002 and 2003 seasons. During that span, he assisted with the offensive line and also with video editing. The Wolverines posted a 20-6 record during that time and competed in a pair of bowl games (2003 Rose Bowl and 2002 Citrus Bowl).
“Max comes highly recommended from (Michigan head coach) Lloyd Carr and (Cincinnati Bengal assistant head coach) Paul Alexander,” Mooshagian said. “There was a very talented applicant pool, but we believe that Max is the right choice.”
Prior to joining the staff at Michigan, Glowacki coached at Central Michigan and Central Connecticut State. His coaching career began at CMU in 1999 as an offensive graduate assistant. With the Chipewas, he assisted with the offensive line and strength and conditioning program as well as developing a database for recruiting. After leaving Central Michigan, Glowacki spent four months at Central Connecticut State before heading to Michigan.
As a player, Glowacki was a four-year starter at Central Michigan. While with the Chipewas, he started 43 games and helped the team to the 1994 Mid-American Conference title and a berth in the Las Vegas Bowl. He was also a two-time all-academic MAC selection and earned a pair of bachelor’s degrees from the University.
“Max possesses all the necessary ingredients we were looking for,” Mooshagian said. “I have wanted to have two offensive line coaches and Max along with Ken Foersch (centers/guards) will make an excellent duo. They are a great fit for the program and will work together to strengthen a unit that has only one returning starter (Dustin Nicolodi).”
In addition to his duties with the tight ends and tackles, Glowacki will also oversee the video operations of the team.
The hiring of Glowacki brings Mooshagian’s staff to nine coaches. Lou Baiz will serve as the assistant head coach as well as work with the linebackers and recruiting. Tim Skipper and Craig Young will be the team’s defensive and offensive coordinators, respectively. Shawn Kraft will be the special team’s coordinator and quarterbacks coach while Jon Osterhout returns to coach the defensive line. Foersch, who also joined the staff during the offseason, completes the full-time coaches while Brian Poynter and Stephon Pace will be the team’s quality control coaches.
