NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Sacramento State offensive lineman Chris Frank has signed a free-agent contract with the Tennessee Titans, it was announced today. Frank becomes the second Hornet in as many days to join an NFL team, as Marko Cavka was drafted by the New York Jets in the sixth round on Sunday.A four-year starter, Frank earned honorable mention all-Big Sky Conference honors as a freshman after starting all 11 games at left guard. He received the same accolade as a sophomore while extending his consecutive-start streak to 22 games. As a junior, Frank started the first four games of the season before breaking his leg. The Moreno Valley, Calif., native missed just five games before returning to the lineup for the final three contests. Frank, once again, was named honorable mention after starting all 11 games as a senior.
Including Cavka, Frank becomes the 14th Sacramento State player to be tabbed by an NFL franchise since the program moved to Div. I-AA in 1993. That list consists of six offensive linemen, including Lonie Paxton and Terence Wagner who are currently playing for the New England Patriots and New Orleans Saints, respectively. Overall, Sacramento State has seen 13 offensive linemen sign NFL contracts.
Cavka and Frank represent the first two Hornets to sign with NFL teams since Ed Canonico and Wagner each signed following the 2001 season.
