FOOTBALL ANNOUNCES 2004 SCHEDULE

4/5/2004

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Five home games and a meeting against Div. I-A Nevada highlight the 2004 Sacramento State football schedule. The Hornets will play 11 regular-season games, beginning on Sept. 11 at Nevada. The game marks the third-straight season that Sacramento State has faced a Div. I-A opponent in its season-opener.

Following a bye, the team will have its home opener against Southern Utah on Sept. 18. The game against the Thunderbirds will be the first meeting between the two schools since 1995. Sacramento State will then play back-to-back road games beginning with the 51st-annual Causeway Classic on Sept. 25 at UC Davis. The Hornets open their Big Sky Conference schedule on Oct. 2 at Northern Arizona.

On Oct. 9, Sacramento State will host Homecoming against Portland State. The team will continue its homestand on Oct. 16 against Weber State. The Hornets will then go back to the road for two games. The trip starts at Idaho State on Oct. 23 and then heads to Eastern Washington on Oct. 30.

Sacramento State will play two of its final three games of the year at home. The team hosts Montana State on Nov. 6 and Cal Poly on Nov. 20. A Nov. 13 meeting at Montana is sandwiched between those game.

The Hornets will play four of their seven league games on the road in 2004. However, Sacramento State has had previous success with this alignment, having won at both Northern Arizona and Eastern Washington in 2000 and 2002.
