FOOTBALL SIGNS ELON PAIGE TO LETTER OF INTENT

3/5/2004

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The Sacramento State football team added one more member to its recruiting class with the signing of Elon Paige to a National Letter of Intent. Paige will enroll at the University in the fall as a freshman.

Last season, Paige helped lead Laguna Creek HS to a 9-2 overall record and a Delta League title. He ranked third on the team with 13 receptions and 206 yards for an average of 15.8 yards per catch.

“Elon is a physical, tall, rangy wideout that can go get the football,” Sacramento State head coach Steve Mooshagian said. “He is out of the same mold as his father (former NFL receiver Stephone Paige).”

Paige is the 33rd player to join Sacramento State this offseason. He joins 18 other high school seniors, 11 junior college transfers and two four-year transfers.

He will also team with his brother, Stephone Paige II, at Sacramento State. The elder Paige played in all 11 games last season as a defensive back.
