DEFENSIVE COORDINATOR DENNIS DiCAMILLO ANNOUNCES RESIGNATION

11/17/2003

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Dennis DiCamillo resigned as Sacramento State’s defensive coordinator, it was announced today. DiCamillo had been with the team since March, 2003.

“I appreciate the opportunity to have been involved with this program over the past year,” DiCamillo said. “It has really been great.

“I informed Steve (Mooshagian) that I have decided to leave the program. This is a decision that has nothing to do with the team’s record or with the future of this program. I think this program has great potential and, at the same time, believe making the move at this time is the best thing for me."

Under DiCamillo, Sacramento State’s defense allowed less points, passing yards and total yards per game compared to the 2002 season. The team also recorded 20 sacks, its highest total since 2000. However, the Hornets were not ranked higher than fifth (out of eight teams) in the seven defensive categories kept by the Big Sky Conference.

“I want to thank Dennis for his contribution this past season,” Sacramento State head coach Steve Mooshagian said. “Our staff wishes him the best of luck in his future endeavors.”

The search for a new defensive coordinator will begin immediately.
