FRED AMEY NAMED SECOND TEAM ALL-WEST REGION

1/9/2003

POCATELLO, Idaho -- Sacramento State wide receiver Fred Amey was named second team all-West Region by Don Hansen’s Football Gazette, it was announced today. Athletes from the Big Sky Conference, Gateway Conference, Ohio Valley Conference and Pioneer Conference as well as independents Cal Poly, Saint Mary’s and Southern Utah were eligible for the team. To qualify, an athlete had to be named first team by their respective league.

Amey completed his sophomore season by leading Sacramento State with 62 catches for 989 yards and nine touchdowns. His receptions broke the school record of 60 set by Mike Carter in 1969 while his touchdowns ranked second in the single-season record book. Amey was the lone Hornet to be named first team all-Big Sky, he also earned honorable mention all-league honors as a kick returner.
