SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Sacramento State’s Kenan Smith was named as a representative to a pair of prestigious positions, it was announced today. Smith will travel to the NCAA Leadership Conference to represent the University as well as being named the Big Sky Conference representative to the NCAA Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.Smith, a wide receiver for the Hornet football team and a sprinter on the track team, will travel to Orlando, Fla., later this month for the Leadership Conference. Each NCAA institution ranging from Division I to Division III had the opportunity to select one student-athlete to represent its school. At the conference, which will be held at the Walt Disney Wide World of Sports, student-athletes will participate in forums and discuss current issues facing collegiate students.
Smith also became the first Sacramento State student to be named as the Big Sky’s representative to the NCAA Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. The committee convenes four to five times a year and serves as the voice for all student-athletes nationwide. The group also plays a major role in all rule changes for every sport sanctioned under the NCAA.
