FOOTBALL TO INDUCT SIX INTO HALL OF FAME IN APRIL

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The Sacramento State Football Alumni Chapter has announced that six former student-athletes will be inducted into its Hall of Fame on April 14. The six are comprised of linebacker Brian Watson, offensive lineman Jason Bannan, cornerback Marvin Brown, tight end Chris Kelly, linebacker Anthony Daisley and quarterback Ricky Ray.

BRIAN WATSON (1968-70)
• A three-year starter at linebacker where he was part of some of the most successful teams in school history.
• Was named the Far Western Conference Outstanding Player as a sophomore in 1968.
• That season he recorded 100 total tackles and had two interceptions and helped the team to the Junior Rose Bowl where it faced Grambling State in Pasadena.
• Also earned all-league honors in 1969.

JASON BANNAN (1991-95)
• A three-year starter and three-time all-American West Conference honoree as an offensive lineman.
• Was a local product from Bella Vista HS who began his collegiate career as a tight end.
• Made the move to the offensive line as a sophomore where he started the final 31 games of his career.
• Earned first team all-American West honors as a senior.

MARVIN BROWN (1994-95)
• Despite playing just two years, Brown is tied for third in school history with 13 career interceptions.
• Intercepted seven passes as a junior where he earned first team all-American West honors.
• Picked off six passes as a senior and was named the conference's defensive player of the year.
• Went on to play for the Albany Firebirds and New York Dragons in the Arena Football League.

CHRIS KELLY (1998-99)
• Earned All-America accolades at tight end as a senior in 1999.
• Led the team with 41 receptions for 603 yards and six touchdowns that same season.
• Was a two-time first team all-Big Sky Conference selection.
• Holds the school record with four receiving touchdowns in a game. While playing at No. 3 Montana, he sparked the Hornet rally with three TD grabs in the fourth quarter and added the fourth in overtime.

ANTHONY DAISLEY (1999-2000)
• Enjoyed two of the finest seasons by a linebacker in Hornet history.
• As a junior, he recorded 89 total tackles, including a school record 25.0 tackles-for-loss.
• Was twice named national defensive player of the year and earned first team all-Big Sky accolades.
• The following season, Daisley added 100 tackles, including 19.0 tackles-for-loss.
• He became the first Hornet defensive player to twice be named all-Big Sky Conference.
• Was also named third team All-America by The Associated Press.
• Currently ranks third in school history in career tackles-for-loss (44.0) and is sixth in career sacks (18.0). He also holds the top two single-season tackles-for-loss totals and is tied for second in single-season sacks.

RICKY RAY (1999-2000)
 • The winningest quarterback in the Div. I era, Ray was a two-time all-Big Sky selection.
• Holds the school single-season record for completion percentage (62.2 percent) and passing efficiency (148.6). Also ranks second in touchdowns with 20 in 1999.
• Ranks fifth with 4,622 career yards and holds the career completion percentage record after connecting on 347 of his 561 attempts (.619).
• Began his professional career in Arena Football 2 but quickly earned a spot with the Edmonton Eskimos of the Canadian Football League. Once there, he set the franchise record for career completions, yards and touchdowns and led the Eskimos to Grey Cup titles in 2003 and 2005.
• Enters the 2012 season ranked ninth in CFL history with 40,531 career passing yards and is tied for 10th with 210 career touchdowns.
• Also had stints with the San Francisco 49ers and New York Jets of the National Football League.
