SACRAMENTO, Calif. - The Sacramento State athletic department and UPN
31, KMAX have agreed to a two-year deal to televise selected Hornet
football games. The package includes three games in both the 2001 and
2002 seasons.
"We are very happy to have this deal done," Volek said. "It helps our
recruiting immensely and shows how the community support has grown
for this program."
The television package tentatively includes Sacramento State's
season-opener against Saint Mary's on September 1. The station also
plans to broadcast the game from Portland State on September 15 and
from Montana State on October 13. The schedule is subject to change
based upon approval from the Big Sky Conference.
The 2002 schedule tentatively includes the season-opener from San
Jose State on August 31 as well as games against Cal Poly and Montana.
UPN 31, KMAX, which also serves as the local home for the Sacramento
Kings, Sacramento River Cats and San Francisco Giants, began
televising Sacramento State football during the Causeway Classic in
1999. Last season, the station aired three Hornet games including
matchups at Montana and Northern Arizona.
"Our partnership with Sacramento State fits perfectly with our
commitment to provide local sports to our viewers and our
advertisers," said Glenda Radigonda, Local Sales Manager, UPN 31,
KMAX.
