SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Sacramento State senior Zack Nash was named to the Walter Camp 2011 FCS All-America team, it was announced today. Nash also earned second team All-America honors by Phil Steele earlier in the week.
The awards are the latest for the defensive end who has enjoyed a successful postseason. Nash was selected as a first team All-American by the American Football Coaches Association as well as the Associated Press.
The Vacaville, Calif., native was one of four defensive linemen selected to the Walter Camp first team. Nash was joined by Adrian Hamilton of Prairie View A&M, Brent Russell of Georgia Southern and Georgetown's Andrew Schaetzke.
The Big Sky Conference was well represented on the first team with seven selections. Also on the defensive first team was Montana cornerback Trumaine Johnson and Idaho State punter David Harrington.
Nash recently completed his senior season where he earned first team all-Big Sky Conference honors and was named the team's MVP. He led the team with 15.0 tackles-for-loss, including 10.5 sacks. Nash also had forced three fumbles, broke up a pair of passes and blocked a kick.
For his career, Nash tallied 170 total tackles with 40.5 for loss and a school record 29.5 sacks.
