Aaron Ingram Title: Running Backs/Recruiting Coordinator Experience: 6th Year Email: aingram@saclink.csus.edu Bio: Aaron Ingram is in his sixth year as the running backs coach at Sacramento State. Ingram added to his responsibilities in the spring of 2011 when he became the team’s recruiting coordinator. Since joining the staff, the Hornets have established themselves as one of the top rushing teams in the Big Sky Conference, averaging over 150 yards per game. Last season, Sacramento State averaged 164.5 yards per game and scored 17 rushing touchdowns which was the most by the team since 2000. The 2011 season featured a balanced rushing attack as four players had at least 50 carries. The group was led by senior Bryan Hilliard who closed his career with 665 yards and seven touchdowns. Ingram coached Hilliard throughout his career and saw the Sacramento native vault up the Hornet record book. Hilliard left Sacramento State ranked third in school history with 3,456 career rushing yards and second with 38 career rushing touchdowns. He was also a three-time all-Big Sky selection. During Ingram’s first season with the team (2007), Hilliard rushed for 826 yards and seven touchdowns despite playing just nine games during the year. He also ended the year strong, rushing for at least 100 yards in each of the final three games, including a 243-yard, three-touchdown effort against Idaho State in season finale. In 2008, Ingram used a three-back attack which featured Hilliard, Evander Wilkins and Jake Croxdale. The trio combined for 1,853 yards and 14 rushing touchdowns. Hilliard led the way with 1,082 yards and 12 touchdowns in his 10 games. In 2009, Ingram used four different starting running backs and had three of them rush for at least 100 yards in a game. The group combined to average 121.9 yards per game and scored 14 touchdowns. Prior to coming to Sacramento State, Ingram spent three seasons as the running backs coach at Foothill College in Los Altos, Calif. A veteran offensive coach, Ingram was the quarterbacks coach at San Jose City College from Dec. 2002-Dec. 2004 before moving to Foothill. He also had stints as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Washington High School in Fremont (Dec. 2001-Dec. 2002), the receivers and tight ends coach at Fresno City College (March 1999-Dec. 2001) and the running backs and quarterbacks coach back at Washington High School (Dec. 1994-Mar. 1999). While at Fresno City College, the Rams posted a 29-1 overall record in three years and advanced to three consecutive bowl games. The team led the nation in scoring each season and had nine former players go on to play in the NFL. As an assistant at FCC, Ingram worked closely with current Detroit Lion running back Maurice Morris. At Fresno City, Morris set national JC records of 4,487 all-purpose yards and 3,708 yards rushing on 593 carries. Ingram is the latest member of his family to coach at Washington HS. His grandfather, Jim, was the longtime head coach while his father, Michael, coached the offensive line. Ingram graduated from Washington High School in Fremont in 1991 and played at Cal State Hayward until the program was discontinued in 1994. He and his wife, Jamie, were married in June of 2008.
