Anthony ParkerTitle: Defensive Backs/Special Teams Experience: 1st Year Alma Mater: Boise State, '07 Email:aparker@saclink.csus.edu Bio: One of three new coaches on the Hornet staff, Anthony Parker was hired as Sacramento State’s defensive backs coach in February of 2009.
Parker comes to the Hornets from Boise State where he assisted the program for four seasons. He began his tenure with the Broncos as a student manager during the 2005 and 2006 seasons. Parker was then named a graduate assistant in 2007 and 2008 where he worked with the defensive line and also nickel backs. During his time at BSU, the team posted a 44-8 overall record and advanced to a bowl game each season. The highlight came in 2006 when Boise State finished the year 13-0, including an overtime victory over Oklahoma in the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl. Ironically, the Broncos began that year with a victory over Sacramento State.
Prior to joining the Boise State program, Parker was high school coach in the Sacramento area. He was the defensive backs coach and pass-defense coordinator at Del Oro High School in Loomis, Calif., from 2002-04. While at Del Oro, he helped coach the Golden Eagles to a berth in the Sac-Joaquin Section Div. II championship game in 2004. During that season, Del Oro led the Sierra Foothill League in interceptions and also allowed the fewest points. In 2002, Parker coordinated a pass defense which led the Sacramento area with 20 interceptions.
Parker also coached at Rocklin High School in 2000 and 2001. While there, he served as the defensive backs coach for a unit which led the league in scoring defense and allowed just 32.9 passing yards per game.
A Northern California native, Parker graduated from Del Oro HS in 1992. He then spent four years in the United States Marine Corps before attending Sierra College in Rocklin, Calif., where he played both defensive back and wide receiver. He earned a bachelor’s degree in social science from Boise State in 2007.
He and his wife, Trisha, were married in July of 2007.
