Is the only incoming midyear player not coming in as a junior (he will be a sophomore)…played one year at Butte JC and helped the Roadrunners to the national title with a 12-0 record…averaged 38.5 yards per punt and placed 15 punts inside the 20-yard line…as a kicker, he converted on 10-of-14 field goals with a long of 42 yards…graduated from Pleasant Valley HS in 2008…named third team all-state by Cal-Hi Sports as a senior…also earned first team all-Northern Section and first team all-Eastern Athletic League in his final two years…set 12 school records in punting and kicking…netted 36.2 yards per punt on 73 high school attempts…had a career long field goal of 40 yards.

Played two seasons at Sacramento City JC…in 2008, he led the team with 38 receptions while playing tight end and slot receiver…was also named first team all-Mid-Empire Conference and helped the team to a pair of conference championships while playing for former Hornet head coach Mike Clemons…best game came against Shasta JC where he had six catches for nearly 100 yards…was a four-sport athlete at Galt HS…named first team all-Sierra Valley Conference as a senior…was also the league’s co-Defensive MVP…as a senior, he had 36 total tackles, four tackles-for-loss, four interceptions…blocked two field goals and recovered a fumble…he also caught two passes for 69 yards and a touchdown.

Most recently starred at Santa Rosa JC in 2008…as a middle linebacker, he was named first team all-NorCal Conference after finishing eighth in the state with 90 regular-season tackles…also added 9.5 tackles-for-loss, one sack, one interception, forced one fumble, and recovered two fumbles…he twice tallied 15 tackles in a game during the season and served as a team captain…ended the seasons with 13 tackles against Sierra JC in the PremierWest Bank Bowl…also shines in the weight room where he bench presses 450 pounds and squats 565 pounds…played his freshman season at Solano JC in 2006 and redshirted during the 2007 season…graduated from Vintage HS in Napa, Calif., in 2006…named first team all-county and first team all-Monticello Empire League as a senior…left Vintage as the all-time leader in three sack categories (single-game, single-season and career sacks)…had 75 stops, including 13.0 sacks as a senior…recorded four sacks against Armijo HS as both a junior and senior for his single-game high.

Spent his first two collegiate seasons at Western Washington where he was an all-Great Northwest Athletic Conference second team selection in 2008…as a sophomore, he ranked second on the team with 76 total tackles and was named the Vikings’ Defensive Player of the Year…he also had four interceptions, was credited with four pass break-ups, recovered one fumble and forced a fumble…as a freshman, Schrader recorded 24 tackles and an interception in six games…redshirted in 2006…despite transferring from Div. II, he will be immediately eligible for the Hornets due to the fact that Western Washington discontinued its football program in January…prepped at Skyline HS in Sammamish, Wash…was first team all-area selection by the King County Journal…earned second team all-Kingco 4A League honors as a wide receiver, safety and punter…caught 46 passes for 717 yards and 10 touchdowns…also credited for 77 tackles and seven interceptions…team posted a 14-0 record and won the Class 4A state title…had six interceptions as a junior on a team which reached the state championship game.

Played the past two seasons at American River JC in Sacramento. A two-time all-Mid-Empire Conference selection…led the state with 21 passes defended as a sophomore…also finished with 28 total tackles, including three for loss, and had two interceptions…as a freshman, Reddic had five interceptions and 13 PBUs…graduated from Cordova HS in 2005 and was a two-time all-Sierra Valley Conference selection for the Lancers…helped lead the team to a SVC title as a junior…tallied 54 total tackles and four interceptions as a senior…was named the school’s athlete of the year for 2004-05.



Kenslow Smith

Spent the past two seasons at Southwestern JC in Chula Vista, Calif…as a sophomore, he helped the team to a Mountain Conference championship and a 7-3 overall record…that season, he rushed for 956 yards and 11 touchdowns and also caught 14 passes to earn first team all-Mountain Conference honors…his average of 95.6 yards per game ranked 16th in the state and he left Southwestern as the school’s all-time leader in career touchdowns with 18…was the school’s National Football Foundation Scholar Athlete Award recipient in 2009…prepped at Helix Charter HS in La Mesa, Calif…as a junior, he was named second team all-East County and first team all-Grossmont South League…helped the team to a 9-1 record and the Grossmont South League title that year.

Played quarterback and free safety for Rancho Cotate HS…was named the North Bay League Defensive Player of the Year as a senior…also earned first team all-NBL honors as a quarterback…team posted a 9-2 overall record in 2008 and advanced to the North Coast Section playoffs…rushed for 818 yards and 11 touchdowns and threw for 682 yards and six touchdowns as a senior quarterback…recorded three 100-yard rushing games in 2008, including a 150-yard, three touchdown effort against Piner HS…defensively, he made 30 tackles, had five interceptions and blocked two kicks…he also averaged 18.9 yards per punt return and 17.5 yards per kickoff return…named first team all-NBL as a quarterback as a junior and was second team on defense.



KeiVaughn Barrett
DL • 6-4 • 290 • Sacramento, Calif./Sacramento HS

Started on both the offensive and defensive lines for the Dragons…named first team all-Metro League and honorable mention all-metro by the Sacramento Bee as a senior…was a member of the offensive line which led the way for an offense which averaged 131.1 yards per game… played for former NFL tight end Doug Cosbie.

Was named to the Div. I all-state first team by Cal-Hi Sports as a senior…also garnered first team all-area honors from the Bakersfield Californian and was first team all-Southwest Yosemite League…is listed as a three-star recruit by Rivals.com…his head coach in 2008 was former Hornet linebacker Chad Grider…team advanced to the Central Section Playoffs…also played on the defensive line for Vikings where he tallied eight tackles and blocked a kick in four games.



Deontray Johnson
RB • 5-8 • 160 • San Diego, Calif./Hoover HS

Named first team all-City Conference and first team all-Western League as a running back following his senior season…rushed for 1,570 yards and 21 touchdowns…rushed for at least 100 yards in nine of his 11 games…averaged 142.7 yards per game and 6.77 yards per carry as a senior…top game came against Serra HS where he had 208 rushing yards and two touchdowns…scored five TDs and rushed for 145 yards against Crawford HS…rushed for at least 150-yards in six games…had three-plus touchdowns in four games…also played defensive back.



Sam McCowan
RB • 5-9 • 180 • Oxnard, Calif./Oxnard HS

Named first team all-Southern Section Northern Division as a utility player, first team all-Ventura County by the Ventura County Star and by the coaches and was the Pacific League MVP…rushed for 1,464 yards and 25 touchdowns…also caught five passes for 165 yards and three scores, tallied 78 tackles as a defensive back, and returned punts and kicks…finished the season with 168 points for an average of 15.3 points per game…had at least one touchdown in all 11 games and had multiple scores in nine games…found the end zone four times against both Santa Barbara HS and Channel Islands HS…rushed for at least 100 yards in eight games…best showing came against San Marcos HS where he tallied 227 yards…averaged 133.1 yards per game and 8.5 yards per attempt…defensively, he had at least three tackles in all 11 games…recorded a season-high 11 stops against SBHS and Westlake HS…intercepted one pass and recovered a pair of fumbles.



Morris Norrise
WR • 6-0 • 170 • Berkeley, Calif./Berkeley HS

Earned first team all-Alameda Contra Costa Athletic League honors in 2008 and was an honorable mention selection as a junior…helped the team to ACCAL title and a 9-1 overall record as a senior…caught 25 passes for 500 yards and six touchdowns as a senior…also had six interceptions, including one for a touchdown, and 20 tackles as a defensive back…an explosive kick and punter returner, he returned two punts for touchdowns in 2008…was his team’s scholar-athlete of the year in 2008.

Comes to the Hornets from Santa Rosa JC…named first team All-America by JC Grid-Wire and first team all-Region 1 by the JC Athletic Bureau as a sophomore in 2008…was also listed as a top 50 JC recruit by Fab 50 Recruiting and a two-start recruit by Rivals.com…caught 61 passes for 1,195 yards and 16 touchdowns for the Bear Cubs as a senior…grabbed 33 passes for 540 yards and 10 scores as a freshman…was twice selected to the all-Northern California Football Association team…played with fellow recruit Jarred Pereira at SRJC…graduated from Windsor HS in 2007…was named all-Peninsula by the San Francisco Chronicle three times…was also a three-time all-Sonoma County League selection…caught 34 passes for 713 yards and 11 touchdowns as a senior…rushed for two scores and had 33 total tackles that same year…as a junior, he caught 50 passes for 781 yards and seven touchdowns…also intercepted five passes and made 24 tackles as a defensive back.



Chad Tannenbaum

Garnered honors on both sides of the ball as a senior…was a first team all-Sac-Joaquin Section selection as an offensive lineman…named second team all-metro by the Sacramento Bee as a defensive lineman…named the Capital Athletic League co-Lineman of the Year in 2008…helped pave the way for a rushing attack which averaged 229.5 yards per game and scored 31 rushing touchdowns…team finished the year 8-3 overall and advanced to the Sac-Joaquin Section playoffs…defensively, he had 22 total tackles as a senior…earned all-Capital Athletic League honors as a junior and senior.



Corey Vanderbeek

A two-time all-Sierra Foothill League selection, including first team honors as a senior…is listed as a two-star recruit by Scout.com…was a team captain as a senior and was named the team’s defensive MVP…recorded 34 tackles and four interceptions as a senior cornerback…had at least one tackle in all nine games in which he appeared…best outing came against Pitman HS where he had nine stops…returned an interception 96 yards against Reno HS…did not allow a receiver he guarded to catch more than three passes in a game…caught one pass for a 16-yard touchdown against Vacaville HS…brother, Jared, was a defensive back for Sacramento State.
