FOOTBALL CLASS CONTINUES TO GROW, NOW UP TO EIGHT SIGNEES

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — After signing five players during the first day and one on the second day of the Early Signing Period, the Sacramento State football team grew its class on Friday with the addition of Marshaun Hunter and Tao McClinton. The Hornets have now signed five defensive players and three offensive players in the period. The early signing period, which is in its first year, continues through Friday. Dec. 22.

Will come to Sacramento State during the spring semester…played one season at Merced JC and will have three years of eligibility remaining…recorded 64 total tackles with 14 sacks and three forced fumbles…had a season high 13 tackles at Monterey Peninsula JC and had eight stops against San Jose City JC and Shasta JC…had four games with multiple sacks, including three against West Hills Coalinga JC…also had 10 pass breakups during the season…helped the Blue Devils to a 9-2 overall record and a 5-1 mark in the Golden Coast Conference which tied for first place…graduated from Merced HS in 2017…played two years of varsity football where he had 156 total tackles on the defensive line…had 93 total stops as a senior with 9.0 tackles-for-loss and 7.5 sacks…ended his career with 17 tackles against Oakdale HS in a playoff game…had seven games with at least seven tackles during the season.

"David has great athleticism and is a natural pass rusher. He's still young and we are fortunate to have him here to play for three years. He's a real good addition to the defensive end position which has established itself as one of the best in the Big Sky in sack production."

Played two varsity seasons at Canyon Springs HS…had 85 career tackles with four sacks…as a senior, he had at least one stop in all nine games…was credited with eight tackles against Lakeside HS, Rubidoux HS and Poly HS for his career high…had 42 tackles as a junior with five tackles-for-loss.

A two-star recruit from 247Sports…recorded 30 tackles with three forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and eight pass breakups as a senior…helped Clovis West HS to a 9-3 overall record…played three seasons of varsity football…also played volleyball and ran track for the Golden Eagles.

A two-star recruit from 247Sports…as a senior, he threw for over 1,220 yard and rushed for 180 in nine games…he accounted for nine touchdowns with five passing and four rushing…threw for 717 yards and five touchdowns and rushed for 299 yards and six scores as a junior…had 232 passing yards against Notre Dame for his season high…also rushed for a pair of touchdowns in that game…father, Angus, played as an offensive lineman for the Hornets and later was an assistant coach at Sacramento State.

A two-star recruit from 247Sports…played wide receiver and free safety at Bakersfield HS…as a senior, he caught 15 passes for 200 yards and a touchdown and added 54 tackles…also had two sacks, an interception and fumble recovery as a senior…caught 35 passes for 876 yards and six scores as a junior…finished the season with four 100-yard games, including a six-catch, 202-yard performance against Stockdale HS…defensively, he had 35 total tackles with a pair of interceptions.

A three-star recruit by 247Sports…named first team Metro Mountain Division as a tight end and defensive end as a senior…helped lead the Vikings to a berth in the Washington 3A state championship game in 2017…tallied 25 tackles with 10 sacks and an interception…played his first three years of high school at Bethel HS.

"Jarrell satisfies an immediate need at the tight end position for us. He has size and a high skill level and I am really looking forward to him proving some depth. He has tremendous ball skills for a big guy and has a really high ceiling in terms of his growth and development."

Played defensive end and tight end for Del Campo…caught 26 passes for 609 yards and 12 touchdowns…opened the season by grabbing four passes for 94 yards and a season-high three touchdowns against Merced HS…had 108 receiving yards against Roseville HS and 107 against Ponderosa HS…also rushed the ball six times for 110 yards during the season…Del Campo finished the season with a 12-1 overall record and was 7-0 in the Capital Valley Conference…team's lone loss came in a 9-7 setback against Granite Bay HS in the Sac-Joaquin Section Div. III semifinals.

"Marshaun is a good young player who can play defensive end and outside linebacker. We had a lot of recommendations from coaches in the area who really liked his playmaking ability. He really stood out to us and we are extremely excited to have his skill and talent on our team. He's a good pass rusher.

A two-star recruit by 247Sports…caught 56 passes for 939 yards in just eight games as a senior…averaged 16.8 yards per reception and had 11 touchdowns during the season…opened the season with three straight 100-yard games, including an 8-catch, 142-yard performance against Interlake HS…had nine grabs for 166 yards against Ingraham HS and 160 yards and three TDs against Highline HS…also recorded 103 total tackles on defense with one interception, seven bass breakups and a forced fumble.
