FOOTBALL ADDS TO CLASS WITH SIGNING OF CAPOOCIA

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The Sacramento State football team added to its 2015 recruiting class with the signing of Isaiah Capoocia  to a National Letter of Intent, it was announced today by head coach Jody Sears.

Capoocia earned all-San Diego county and an league honors as a senior at El Capitan HS in Lakeside, Calif. He helped the Vaqueros win the San Diego Section Div. II title and a berth in the California Div. III championship game. El Capitan finished the season with a 14-1 overall record with its only loss coming against Campolindo, 35-28, in the state title game.

Capoocia amassed over 2,000 all-purpose yards and scored 22 touchdowns as a senior. He led the team with 59 receptions for 941 yards and 15 touchdown catches and also rushed for 307 yards and five scores. Capoocia had at least one catch in every game and had four 100-yard contests, including 169 against Grossmont where he also had four touchdowns.

Defesnviely, he finished the season with 27 stops while playing cornerback where he had four interceptions and deflected five passes.

Capoocia joins 32 other commits to Sacramento State for the upcoming season. The Hornets open spring practice on Tuesday, March 10, at 7 a.m. The first regular season game for the 2015 season will come on Sept. 5 against Eastern Oregon at Hornet Stadium.
