DEANDRE CARTER TO PLAY IN NFLPA BOWL ON SATURDAY

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Wide receiver DeAndre Carter will compete in the NFLPA Bowl on Saturday, Jan. 17, in Carson, Calif. The game will kick off at 1 p.m. from the StubHub Center and will be televised on ESPN2.

Carter will compete for the National team and is one of eight wide receivers on the roster. However, he is the only receiver from an Football Championship program and will joined by players at the position from Georgia, Kansas, Kentucky, UConn, Northwestern, Miami (Ohio) and Florida Atlantic. The National team will be quarterbacked by Jameill Showers of UTEP, Brandon Bridge of South Alabama and Andrew Hendrix of Miami (Ohio).

The NFLPA Game is coached by former NFL head coaches Mike Holmgren and Mike Martz. Holmgren will pilot the American team and will be assisted by NFL veterans including Gil Haskell, Amp Lee, Keith Gilbertson, Steve Hutchinson, Dwaine Board, Darrell Green and Nolan Cromwell. The National team will be guided by Martz who's staff includes Jon Kitna, Priest Holmes, Jackie Slater, Andre Reed, Al-Zahir Hakim and Ron Pitts.

Carter, who earned All-America and all-Big Sky Conference honors with the Hornets in 2014, began practicing with the team on Monday. He is the second Sacramento State player to play in the NFLPA Bowl following tight end TJ Knowles in 2013.
