CARTER NAMED SECOND TEAM ALL-AMERICA BY THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Sacramento State wide receiver DeAndre Carter continued to haul in national awards as he was named second team All-America by the Associated Press, it was announced today.

Carter became just the third Hornet offensive player to earn the honor from the AP. He joins running back Charles Roberts (first team 1999; second team 1988) and offensive lineman Jon Osterhout (second team 1999). Earlier this week, the senior was selected as a first team All-American by the Walter Camp Football Foundation and College Sports Madness.

During the 2014 season, Carter led the Football Championship Subdivision and the Big Sky during the regular season with 1,321 receiving yards and 17 receiving touchdowns. His 99 receptions were also the most in the FCS and ranked second in league history. The San Jose, Calif., native was a model of consistency throughout the season, amassing at least 100-yards in six games and averaging 10.1 receptions and 139.2 yards in the eight league games. Carter earned national player of the week honors during the season after setting the school record with 16 receptions for 237 receiving yards and four touchdowns against Southern Utah.
