FOOTBALL PICKED SEVENTH BY COACHES, NINTH BY MEDIA IN PRESEASON POLL

PARK CITY, Utah —The Sacrameno State football team was picked to finish seventh by the coaches in the Big Sky Conferfence preseason poll and ninth by the media, it was announced on Monday at the Big Sky Kickoff.

Both voting groups had an identical view of the top six teams in the league. Defending conference champion Eastern Washington was a heavy favorite in both polls, as the Eagles claimed each of the 12 possible first-place votes in the coaches poll and 34 of the 37 in the media poll. Montana, Montana State, Cal Poly, Northern Arizona and Southern Utah completed the top six. MSU and Cal Poly were separated by just three points in the coaches poll while CP and NAU had a one point differential in the media poll.

Sacramento State received 79 points in the coaches poll and was followed by Portland State (71) and UC Davis (61). In the media poll, UCD was seventh with 228 points to edge PSU (227) and the Hornets (222).

The bottom four spots featured the same teams in both polls with only one matching selection. In the coaches poll, North Dakota was picked 10th and was trailed by Weber State, Idaho State and Northern Colorado. In the media poll, Idaho State was picked slightly ahead of North Dakota, Weber State and UNC.

Sacramento State reports for training camp on Monday, Aug. 3. The team's first game will come at Incarnate Word on Saturday, Aug. 30, in San Antonio, Texas.
