OGDEN, Utah — DeAndre Carter, Tyler Worthley and Todd Davis highlighted nine Sacramento State players who earned all-Big Sky Conference honors by being named to the first team, it was announced today.

Carter set career highs with 64 receptions and 934 yards while tying the Sacramento State single-season record with 14 receiving touchdowns. The junior caught a pass in all 11 games in which he played, including 12 against Southern Oregon and Montana. After being held out of the end zone against San Jose State and Arizona State, Carter broke out with a school record five receiving touchdowns against Southern Oregon. From that point, he had at least one touchdown in seven of the next eight games.

Worthley started all 45 games of his career at guard for the Hornets, A preseason all-Big Sky selection, he became the first Sacramento State offensive lineman to earn first team all-conference honors since Terence Wagner in 2001.

Davis led the Big Sky and ranked fifth nationally in the FCS with 10.9 tackles per game. His total of 131 stops is the fifth most in school single season history and he concluded his career with 351 total tackles to rank second in the Hornet record book. Davis, who was honorable mention in 2011 and a second team selection in 2012, also had five sacks, two interceptions, a pair of forced fumbles and four pass breakups during the season.

Quarterback Garrett Safron and punter Justin Weldon were named to the second team. Both players set single game, single season and career records during the year. Safron completed 294-of-460 pass attempts for 3,289 yards and 27 touchdowns while starting all 12 games at quarterback. Each of those numbers set school records. He was also the team's leading rusher with 492 yards and seven touchdowns and tallied 3,781 yards of total offense.

Safron was a three-time ROOT Sports Big Sky Offensive Player of the Week, including after a 554-yard, four touchdown performance at Portland State.  His performance in that game helped him become the career leader in Hornet history with 52 touchdown passes. The junior also set the school record with seven touchdown passes against Southern Oregon.

Weldon finished fourth in the FCS with an average of 44.9 yards per punt. That mark easily set the Sacramento State single-season record and his career average of 44.2 is also the best by a Hornet. Against UC Davis, Weldon boomed a 78-yard punt which broke the school mark of 75 which was set in 1973.

Morris Norrise earned third team honors following a career year. The senior caught a team-leading 81 passes (the second most in school history) for 870 yards and four touchdowns. Norrise finished his career with 214 catches for 2,650 yards and 19 touchdowns to rank second in each statistical category. The all-conference honor is the fourth for the Berkeley, Calif., native following honorable mention in 2010 and 2011 and second team in 2012.

Darnell Sankey, Shane Harrison and Markell Williams each garnered honorable mention. Sankey led the team with six sacks, was second with 9.0 tackles-for-loss and third with 65 total tackles. Sankey was selected as a national player of the week after tallying three sacks, 4.5 TFLs and 10 tackles in the win at Weber State. Harrison caught 49 passes for 594 yards and a touchdown. Williams ranked fourth on the team with 57 total tackles, including four for loss, in his 10 games.
