SANKEY NAMED NATIONAL AND BIG SKY PLAYER OF THE WEEK

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Sacramento State sophomore Darnell Sankey was named the FCS National Defensive Player of the Week by The Sports Network as well as the ROOT Sports Big Sky Conference Defensive Player of the Week, it was announced today.

In the team's 31-3 win at Weber State, Sankey dominated the line of scrimmage, recording a career high 10 tackles, including 4.5 for loss and three sacks. The San Jose, Calif., native also forced and recovered a fumble after sacking Wildcat quarterback Jordan Adamczyk.

Sankey's efforts sparked a defense which held Weber State to only 234 yards of total offense. The three points allowed were the second fewest against a Big Sky opponent in school history.

On the season, Sankey ranks third on the team with 33 total tackles while also leading the squad with 6.0 TFLs and 4.5 sacks.
