McMAHON SIGNS WITH GREEN BAY ON EVE OF TRAINING CAMP

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Former Sacramento State safety Ryan McMahon officially signed with the Green Bay Packers on Thursday. McMahon attended minicamp with the Packers in May on a tryout.

A two-year starter with the Hornets, McMahon finished his career with 183 tackles, including seven for loss and a sack. He also forced a pair of fumbles, had an interception and broke up 11 passes in his 22 games (all starts).

Green Bay will begin training camp on Friday, July 26 and will play its first preseason game on Friday, Aug. 9, against Arizona Cardinals. McMahon will wear No. 32.

McMahon is one of eight former Hornets currently playing professional football.

Zack Nash (DE, Arizona Cardinals)
Nash returns for his second season with the Cardinals…the team will shift training camp from Northern Arizona University to its own facility in the Phoenix area…last season, Nash played in eight games and had one tackle…Arizona will play its first preseason game against Green Bay on Aug. 9.

McLeod Bethel-Thompson (QB, Minnesota Vikings)
Bethel-Thompson is in his second season with the Vikings…last year, he served as a backup quarterback in Minnesota but did not play in a game…Minnesota plays its first preseason game against Houston on Aug. 9.

Ricky Ray, (QB, Toronto Argonauts)
In his second season in Toronto, Ray has led the Argos to a 2-2 record…the three-time Grey Cup winner, leads the CFL with 1,203 yards and has eight TDs without an interception.

Jason Barnes (WR, Toronto Argonauts)
One of Ray's favorites targets has been Barnes who's caught 11 passes for 148 yards and two touchdowns…the pair played together in Edmonton before making the move to Toronto last season.

Brandon Smith (DB, Calgary Stampeders)
Smith is in his sixth season with the Stampeders where he's been a regular starter at defensive halfback…he's started the first four games for Calgary this season and has tallied 13 tackles, including a sack.

Aaron Garcia (QB, Orlando Predators)
After beginning the season in San Jose, Garcia has played 12 games with the Orlando Predators…between the two teams, Garcia has completed 63.9 percent of his passes (380-600) with 100 touchdowns and 27 interceptions…his 4,787 yards are the most in the AFL this season…the 42-year old was named the third best player in AFL history following the 2012 season.

Chase Deadder (WR, Utah Blaze)
Deadder is wrapping up his first season with the Utah Blaze…he has appeared in 16 of the team's 17 games and ranks second on the team with 80 receptions for 758 yards and is third with 15 touchdowns…he has also arrayed the ball 17 times and ranks second on the team with six touchdowns.
