SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Former Hornets Ricky Ray and Jason Barnes combined to lead the Toronto Argonauts to a 35-22 victory over Calgary in the 100th Grey Cup on Sunday in Toronto.
Ray completed 18-of-30 passes for 231 yards and two touchdowns while Barnes caught three passes for a team-high 82 yards, including a 62-yard catch.
The game punctuated an amazing season for the pair who were acquired by Toronto in the offseason after spending their entire CFL careers in Edmonton. Ray solidified himself as one of the greatest quarterbacks in league history, winning his third Grey Cup. During 2012, Ray threw for 4,059 yards with 20 touchdowns and has now amassed 44,588 career passing yards and 230 touchdowns in 10 CFL seasons.
Ray and Barnes squared off against Sacramento State alum Brandon Smith who is a starter in the Calgary defensive backfield. Smith tallied four tackles during the game.
