Kevin Higgins enters his first season as a volunteer assistant coach with the Sacramento State baseball team. He will serve as the outfield coach while also assisting with the hitters.
Higgins is an alumnus of the university, having earned a bachelor's degree in recreation administration before getting a master's degree in physical education from South Dakota State. He has coached for several professional teams as both a manager and hitting coach and was named the New York Penn League Manager of the Year in 1996.
Higgins has also maintained strong ties to Sacramento in serving in a variety of capacities at American River College. He has been a physical education instructor at the school since 1985 and was the head baseball coach from 1985-2002. He also served as an assistant coach for five years and most recently was the varsity baseball hitting coach at Del Campo high school.
