Leading Off

Back To The WAC After Tuesday night's non-conference contest at Santa Clara, the Hornets return to WACtion with this weekend's series at Seattle U. Sacramento State currently sits atop the WAC standings with a 7-2 record in league play.

Break Out the Brooms Sacramento State swept the visiting CSU Bakersfield Roadrunners last weekend at John Smith Field. The sweep is the Hornets' third this season and their first of a conference opponent since sweeping Utah Valley to end the regular season last year, also at John Smith Field.

Walkf (Off) This Way Sacramento State collected its third and fourth walk-off wins of the season last weekend against CSU Bakersfield. Three of those four wins this season have come against WAC opponents.

Around the Horn

18: Home wins this season, the most for the Hornets since winning 20 at the John in 2015.

9: Game road trip for the Hornets, the team's longest stretch away from the John all the season.

2.4: Walks-Allowed-Per-Nine for the Hornets' pitching staff, the best BB/9 in all NCAA Div. I baseball.

About Last Game

It was just one of those games for Sacramento State on Tuesday evening as they fell on the road, 11-0, to the Santa Clara Broncos. The Hornets struggled to put it all together in the loss, managing just four hits while also committing three errors.

The Hornets had chances, but left 12 men on base, going just 1-for-13 with runners in scoring position. All four of Sacramento State's base hits were singles, though they drew six walks as a team and took advantage of a Santa Clara error, as well.

Schedule Update

In a preemptive effort to avoid projected weekend rain in Seattle, the Hornets and Redhawks have rearranged the series schedule. Sacramento State and Seattle U will now play a doubleheader on Friday, April 12, with game one set to start at 2 pm. They will play the third and final game of the series on Saturday at 2 pm. Stay tuned to @SacStBaseball on Twitter this weekend for potential further updates.

Doubleheader Successes

Sacramento State has already played four doubleheaders this season. They have swept three at home vs. North Dakota State and Towson (twice) and split one on the road at UCLA.

Last year, the Hornets played just two doubleheaders all year, sweeping Chicago State at home and splitting on the road at Utah.

Season-Long Road Trip

Tuesday's game at Santa Clara began a stretch of nine straight games on the road for Sacramento State. The Hornets travel next to Seattle U before heading east to face Illinois State and Chicago State. The nine-game trip ends with a road matchup at Cal.

The Hornets have struggled in their early road tests, going just 3-8 away from John Smith Field this season. That number has been overcome by an incredible 18-3 home record.
