SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Sacramento State closes out its season-long 13 game homestand with a midweek meeting against the Pac-12's California Golden Bears Tuesday night at John Smith Field. The Hornets defeated the Bears, 4-1, in their lone matchup last season. Tuesday night's game is the first in a two-game home-and-home series with the Bears this season.

Home Sweet Home The Hornets have played 17 of their first 23 games at John Smith Field this season, where they are 14-3. Sacramento State will play 30 of its 56 scheduled games at the John. Since the start of the 2017 season, the Hornets own a .649 home winning percentage (48-26).
Schedule Alert Sacramento State has added a game on Tuesday, April 2 when they will host Menlo College. The game has been added to replace the rained out contest at UC Davis on Feb. 26.

Sacramento State opened WAC play with a series win against the visiting UTRGV Vaqueros this past weekend at John Smith Field. The Hornets won game one, 5-4, in 10 innings, before cruising to a 7-1 win on Saturday. They were unable to complete the sweep, falling 5-3 in the series finale.
Bacho provided the game-winner on Friday, driving an RBI-double to the wall in the bottom of the 10th inning to give Sacramento State its second walk-off win of the season. It was also the Hornets' first extra-inning game of the year.
Tuesday's game vs. Cal is Sacramento State's fourth midweek meeting of the season. The Hornets are 2-1 in their first three, including home wins over UC Davis and San Jose State.
Last year, the Hornets were 6-3 in midweek games, including a 4-1 win on a Tuesday on the road at Cal.
Sacramento State's 11-game win streak came to a close on Sunday with the Hornets' 5-3 loss to UTRGV. Prior to Sunday, the Hornets last loss came back on Tuesday, March 5 at Saint Mary's.
The 11-game win streak is the third longest in the Div. I era of Hornet baseball (16, 1992) and the second longest under head coach Reggie Christiansen (12, 2014).
During the streak, Sacramento State hit .280 and averaged nearly seven runs per game on better than eight hits and six walks per game.
On the mound, Hornets pitchers were phenomenal during the streak, holding opponents to just a .167 batting average against and posting a 1.62 ERA. They never allowed more than four runs in a game during the streak and held opponents to two or fewer runs seven times.
