SACRAMENTO, Calif. - The Sacramento State baseball team will take the field at John Smith Field against an opponent for the first time since the end of the 2018 season on Saturday, Nov. 3. First pitch for the fall exhibition doubleheader against the Santa Clara Broncos is scheduled for 2:00 pm.
Saturday's action will be the first this academic year for the Hornets at John Smith Field. Sacramento State did travel to Oregon late last month to play a doubleheader against defending College World Series champion Oregon State.
Admission for Saturday's exhibition doubleheader against Santa Clara is free, though concessions will not be available for the out-of-season contest.
Sacramento State opens the 2019 season having won 30 or more games in seven straight seasons, the longest such streak since a string of nine straight 30-win seasons from 1985-1993. They are just one of two teams in the state with such a streak (Cal State Fullerton).
Opening Night is scheduled for Friday, Feb. 15 as the Hornets host North Dakota State for a three-game, weekend series. The full Hornet baseball schedule is available online by visiting the Sacramento State baseball page at HornetSports.com.
Before the season starts, the Hornet baseball program will host its ninth annual Diamond Dinner in January. Full details on the exciting annual event are available online.
