SACRAMENTO, Calif. - The Sacramento State baseball team will host its eighth annual Diamond Dinner on Friday, January 19, at 5:30 p.m. The event will be held at the Scottish Rite Masonic Temple located at 6151 H Street, just across the street from the north entrance to the Sacramento State campus. Hornet Baseball alum and Philadelphia Phillies star Rhys Hoskins will attend this year's dinner.
The Hornets enter the 2018 season fresh off their second NCAA Regional Appearance in the last four seasons. All of the team's hard work is paying off both in the classroom and on the field, but Hornet Baseball refuses to be satisfied. 2018 looks to be another exciting year as the Hornets continue their quest to be an elite NCAA Division 1 program. The Diamond Dinner is your opportunity to help.
Proceeds from the event will directly benefit Hornet Baseball in very real ways, such as the installation of all new wallboards prior to the 2017 season. The dinner, which will be catered by BJ's restaurant, will also feature both live and silent auctions. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. for a preview of all auction items.
This year's Diamond Dinner will be especially eventful. In addition to meeting the 2017 players and staff, Hornet Baseball alum and Philadelphia Phillies star Rhys Hoskins will be in attendance and will speak. The program will also be dedicating a plaque to legendary coach Cal Boyes. Boyes coached for 17 seasons and led the Hornets to 11 conference championships between the years of 1957 and 1975. The commemorative plaque will be displayed prominently at John Smith Field.
Please join the Sacramento State baseball community in creating "BUZZ" for the upcoming season and in honoring the rich history and success of the program by attending the 8th annual Diamond Dinner. For more information, please see the 2018 Diamond Dinner flyer and invitation.
