DENVER – After another brilliant performance in a 7-1 win at No. 11 Washington, Sacramento State senior pitcher Justin Dillon has been named Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Pitcher of the Week for the second consecutive week.
After a throwing a no-hitter last Thursday against Northern Kentucky Dillon followed with another gem against the 11th ranked team in the nation on Friday, allowing just one hit and one walk with eight strikeouts over six shutout innings.
He struck out two batters in each of his last two innings and allowed just a single in the second inning and walk in the fifth. Of his 102 pitches on the night 75 were strikes.
Before the no-hitter Dillon had also allowed just one hit in his first start of the season vs. Washington State. Dillon has now pitched 22.0 innings this season and allowed a total of one run, two hits, and two walks with 25 strikeouts. He is 2-0 this year this with a minuscule 0.41 ERA, 0.18 WHIP, and .029 opposing batting average.
Dillon ranks second among qualified pitchers in NCAA Div. I in WHIP and hits allowed per nine innings (0.82)
