NINE HORNET BASEBALL PLAYERS COMPETING IN SUMMER LEAGUES

SACRAMENTO, Calif. - The Sacramento State baseball team has nine student-athletes competing this summer in wood bat leagues around the country and into Canada. Summer leagues run from the beginning of June into the first week of August.

As has been the case in past summers, the most Hornets on one team are in Arcata with the Humboldt Crabs. Outfielder James Outman is with the Crabs as are pitchers Austin Ragsdale and Ryan Smith. Former Hornet Tim Wheeler is also serving as an assistant coach with Humboldt this summer.

Two Hornets are north of the boarder in Canada playing for the Victoria HarbourCats. Infielder PJ Floyd is with Victoria for the second consecutive summer and is joined this year by Hornet teammate Matt Smith. Infielder Dan Deely and outfielder Blake Edmonson are together as well playing for the Liberal Bee Jays in Liberal, Kansas.

Infielder Kody Reynolds has also traveled a great distance to join his summer ball squad, the Anchorage Bucs, in Alaska. Infielder Vinny Esposito rounds out the group playing with the Bethesda Big Train in Maryland.
