No. 13 TITANS SWEEP BASEBALL
FULLERTON, Calif. --- Shane Costa, Richie Burgos and P.J. Pilittere each homered and Jordan DeJong pitched six shutout innings as 13th-ranked Cal State Fullerton downeed Sacramento State, 22-0, in a Big West Conference game at Goodwin Field Sunday afternoon.The Titans, who swept the series from the Hornets and have won nine of their last 10 games, improved to 21-10 overall and 5-1 in conference play. Sacramento State fell to 13-16 and 1-5.
DeJong (5-2) allowed just four hits, walked two and struck out six in six innings. Travis Ingle, Jeff Housman and Charlie Zahari followed DeJong to the mound and each worked an inning.
Kyle Boyer and Pilittere each had three hits to pace the Titans and Shane Costa and Jason Corapci each drove in three runs.
Fullerton jumped on Sacramento State starter Kevin Marzion (2-5) for five runs in the first, with Corapci's two-run double plating the first two runs. The Titans added four runs in the fourth and three in the fifth before scoring 10 runs in the eighth.
Sacramento State returns to the diamond on Tuesday night against UC Davis. The matchup against the Aggies will take place at Raley Field beginning at 6:30 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at the Raley Field Box Office.
