4/3/2011
Shea Lukes earned his first collegiate win with 6.1 innings of nearly perfect relief.
SEATTLE, Wash. - Sacramento State split its Sunday doubleheader with Seattle University at the University of Washington's Husky Ballpark and won three games in the four game set. The Hornets lost game one, 2-1, in seven innings but rebounded with a win in game two, 3-1. Sacramento State won both games in Saturday's doubleheader.
Sacramento State's record now sits at 9-20 as Western Athletic Conference play begins next weekend with a four-game series at Hawai'i. Seattle slides to 10-12 on the season.
Freshman reliever Shea Lukes earned his first career win with 6.1 innings of one-hit ball in game two while starter Brandon Sandoval pitched a complete game (six innings) in game one, allowing just two runs, but could not get enough run support to get his first win this season.
Game One - L, 2-1 (7)
Seattle starter Seafth Howe did not receive much run support, but two runs was enough as he pitched a complete game, allowing one run on four hits in seven innings with two walks and four strikeouts in Seattle's 2-1 win in the opening game of Sunday's doubleheader.
Steve Kirbach and Josh Kalalau drove in the two Redhawks runs.
Howe (4-1) held the Hornets to just one run - on Hunter Adrian's groundout in the fourth - and four hits. Derrick Chung had two of the Hornets' hits.
Sacramento State starter Brandon Sandoval (0-1) also pitched a complete game, allowing just two runs on four hits in his first start of the season. Sandoval went six innings with six walks and five strikeouts.

Game Two - W, 3-1
It was a 1-1 tie heading into the top of the eighth inning when the Hornets struck for two runs to pull away and win game two of the doubleheader.
Derrick Chung grounded out to short to lead off the inning but Andrew Ayers followed with a single to left and moved to second on David Del Grande's single through the left side.
The bases were loaded after Kirby Young's single and Ayers came home on Justin Higley's RBI ground out to third. After a pitching change, Brent Hottman singled down the left field line to bring home Del Grande. Del Grande went 2-for-4 in the game with two runs.
After Sacramento State starter Andrew Galvan lasted just 2.1 innings, freshman Shea Lukes (1-0) was masterful in relief. Lukes allowed just one hit and no runs in 6.2 innings with two walks and three strikeouts.
Seattle starter Arlo Evasick allowed one run on two hits in 6.2 innings but reliever Conor Spink allowed the Hornets to get ahead. Spink (2-2) pitched one inning, with two runs on three hits.
