AS A FRESHMAN (2012)
One of the top defensive middle infielders in the Western Athletic Conference in his first season with the Hornets...made just nine errors while recording 148 assists and 80 putouts...started 50 of the 51 games he played in, all at short...hit .231 on the season with nine doubles, 22 runs and 16 RBIs in 156 at-bats...drew 18 walks while striking out 26 times...led the team with 10 sacrifices...a perfect 3-for-3 on stolen base attempts...had a season-best two hits in seven different games...went 1-for-2 against Nevada in the first game of the WAC Tournament before fouling a ball off his chest and neck, missing the remaining three games...best game of the season was on April 11 against UC Davis, when he went 2-for-3 with three runs, one RBI, two doubles and a walk.
HIGH SCHOOL
A four-year starter for head coach Darol Salazar at Palm Desert HS...the Aztecs went 28-5 in his final season and he was named MVP of the CIF Southern Section championship game after helping Palm Desert defeat Torrance, 9-0...hit .371 in a team-high 116 at-bats with 30 runs, 29 RBIs, nine doubles and five home runs as a senior in 2010-11...all-CIF selection as a junior and senior and also named all-Desert Valley League as a sophomore, junior and senior...set the Palm Desert HS career and single season hits records...selected the top defensive shortstop in the Southland by the Los Angeles Times prior to his senior season.
