AS A FRESHMAN (2009)
Earned freshman All-American honors from Louisville Slugger and the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper, the first Hornet to do so during the Division I era...also earned second team all-WAC honors...posted a 9-2 record with a 5.64 ERA during his first season in the Green and Gold...became the first Hornet freshman to post more than eight victories, and the first pitcher to post nine victories since Ethan Katz (2005)...threw a team-leading 83.0 innings, and collected 59 strikeouts on the season...won five straight starts during one stretch of the season, and after starting the year 1-2, he did not lose a decision after March 7...went 4-0 in conference play, and left two additional conference games with leads, although he did not end up factoring in the decision.
HIGH SCHOOL
A 2008 graduate of Fowler HS in Fowler, Calif...earned first team all-Southwest Sierra League honors after going 13-2 with a 1.51 ERA and 123 strikeouts in 88 innings...also hit .485 with six home runs and 38 RBI...named first team all-Valley by the Fresno Bee and first team all-state small school divisions by Cal-Hi Sports...led his team to the Division V CIF championship in 2008...recorded 18 strikeouts in a 5-3 victory over Coast Union on May 3.
