PRIOR TO SACRAMENTO STATE
Played at the City College of San Francisco in 2005, where he earned second team all-conference accolades as a reliever...that summer, played with the Portland Wildcats (57 IP, 1.60 ERA, 6-1 record, 63 K’s)...in 2006 transferred to Chabot, playing for head coach Steve Friend in Hayward, Calif...was a starter to begin the year, but an elbow injury cut his season short... finished the year with 34.1 IP, 2-1 record, 2.88 ERA and one save...struck out 21 while walking only three.

HIGH SCHOOL
A 2003 graduate of Pleasant Grove HS in Pleasant Grove, Utah...spent three years at McAteer High School in San Francisco before moving to Utah...at Pleasant Grove, played under head coach Jon Hoover, who suggested he focus solely on pitching...earned first team all-city honors his junior year as a utility player and earned second team all-region as a pitcher his senior season...lists his best game as striking out 11 in a complete game against rival Timpanogas.

PERSONAL:
Born Aug. 18, 1985...parents are Jill Matosich and Doug Axelrod...a communication studies major, will most likely enter his father’s tax business after graduation.
