AS A SENIOR (2009)
Earned second team All-WAC honors after an impressive senior campaign that saw him hit .368 with five home runs and 32 RBI...started all 54 games, hitting in the leadoff spot in every game...made 53 starts at second base and one at first...collected 11 doubles, two triples and an on base percentage of .411...ranked 45th in nation in hits with 87 and 65th in the country in runs with 67, with both marks ranking in the top five in school single season history...tied for team lead with 25 multi-hit games...went 5-for-5 against Menlo on March 28 and 5-for-6 at Nevada on May 8, marking both of the Hornets five hit games on the season...finished second on the team in stolen bases with 14.

AS A JUNIOR (2008)

Hit .291 in 42 games, which included 33 starts...made 31 starts at second base and two at designated hitter...hit lone home run of the season at home against New Mexico State on April 27...collected 14 RBI on the season, while going a perfect 6-for-6 on stolen base attempts...was third on the team in sacrifices with six, while adding three doubles and two triples...had six games with multiple runs scored, four games with multiple RBI and 10 multi-hit games.

PRIOR TO SACRAMENTO STATE
Played two seasons at Cosumnes River College for head coach Tony Bloomfield...two-time first team all-Big 7 performer...led the team with a .424 batting average and 10 stolen bases...also led the team in slugging (.478) and on-base percentage (.514)...lone home run was a walk-off to beat Delta College...led team to Big 7 title in 2006, posting a team-best .384 batting average with 27 RBI...was third on the team with 63 hits...teamed with fellow Hornet Brian Smith for two seasons.

HIGH SCHOOL
A 2005 graduate of Elk Grove HS in Elk Grove, Calif...led the Thundering Herd to the 2005 Division I Sac-Joaquin Section championship...hit .373 with a team leading 38 hits...named first team all-Delta League his senior campaign.

Born July 14, 1987...parents are Rich and Priscilla Martinez...related to former major league player/manager, former Hornet assistant coach and current Baltimore Orioles broadcaster Buck Martinez...majoring in business.
