AS A JUNIOR (2008)
Made 17 appearances, including nine starts in his first season in the Green and Gold...posted a 4-1 record with a 4.75 ERA...all of his decisions were as a starter...picked up first career win in his first career start on March 29 against Hawai’i, allowing one run in four innings pitched working under a pitch count...struck out the first four batters in 4-0 shutout victory over eventual College World Series champion Fresno State on May 17...struck out four or more batters on five occasions...allowed 53 hits in 53.0 innings pitched, walking 23 while striking out 33...opponents hit just .275 against him.

PRIOR TO SACRAMENTO STATE

Played two seasons at Cosumnes River College for head coach Tony Bloomfield...earned second team all-Big 7 honors in 2007 after posting a 4-2 record with a 3.00 ERA...made 11 appearances, including 10 starts...walked just seven batters in 51 innings pitched...led team to Big 7 title in 2006...was 4-2 with a 2.91 ERA...appeared in 18 games, making four starts...played both years with Hornet teammate Hunter Martinez.

HIGH SCHOOL

A 2005 graduate of Florin HS in Sacramento...lettered four years as a pitcher and first baseman for head coach Mike Harris...posted a team-best 4.31 ERA during his senior campaign...recorded 53 strikeouts, and also led the team in hits and RBI.

PERSONAL

Born Jan. 18, 1987...parents are Thomas and Janet Smith...major is kinesiology...has career aspirations to be a physical therapist or a high school health teacher.
