AS A JUNIOR (2008)
Started 38 games behind the plate for the Hornets in his first season in the Green and Gold...appeared in 45 games...hit .236 with seven doubles and eight RBI...third on the team with five sacrifices...scored 17 runs on the season...threw out 13 potential base stealers, while allowing just three passed balls...drove in a career-high two RBI against South Dakota State on Feb. 16...was 2-for-4 in that contest with two runs scored...had a 2-for-4 performance at the plate with two doubles and two runs scored in the Hornets’ 6-0 shutout victory over Stanford on March 24...was a perfect 4-for-4 on the basepaths, showing speed from the catcher position.
PRIOR TO SACRAMENTO STATE
Played two seasons (2005 & 2006) for Rob Wilson at Sierra JC...played catcher and hit .241 for the Wolverines in 2006, helping Sierra to the Final Four of the state playoffs...collected 37 hits with three home runs and 31 RBI in 2006...saw time in 47 of the Wolverines 51 contests...had four sacrifices and five sacrifice flies during the season, ranking third on the team in both categories...hit .255 in 2005, appearing in 29 games at catcher...had six RBI and six stolen bases for the season.
A 2004 graduate of Rocklin HS....played four seasons for head coach Roc Murray...named first-team all-Sierra Foothill League as a senior and Offensive and Defensive MVP for the Thunder.
Born Aug. 9, 1986...parents are Doug and Jill Kirkman...major is communication studies...after cutting his head open and receiving seven staples in a wakeboarding accident, hit five home runs in his next three games during his senior season.
