The 2013 Hornets were picked to finish fourth in the WAC preseason poll.
SACRAMENTO, Calif. - The Sacramento State baseball team was picked to finish fourth in the Western Athletic Conference preseason coaches poll, the league announced.
The Hornets received one first-place vote and 54 total points. League newcomer Dallas Baptist (80 points, eight first place votes) was picked to win the league as the Patriots have advanced to the NCAA Regionals in three of the last five years. Fellow newcomer Texas State was chosen second with 65 points and one first-place vote and New Mexico State, with 60 points, was slotted third.
Sacramento State shared the WAC regular season title last season with New Mexico State and Nevada. The Wolf Pack, along with Fresno State, left the WAC to join the Mountain West Conference while Hawai'i moved to the Big West.

The Hornets open up the 2013 season next weekend with a three-game series at Texas. Sacramento State's first home games at John Smith Field come in a four-game series against UC Riverside on Feb. 22-24.
