GET A SNEAK PEEK AT TRACK & FIELD AND GYMNASTICS ON FRIDAY

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Two of Sacramento State’s most successful teams will make their debut with intrasquad events on Friday, Dec. 12. The Hornet track and field team will hold its annual Green vs. Gold Meet before gymnastics conducts its intrasquad meet in the evening.

The Green vs. Gold track and field meet will begin at 1:30 p.m. at Hornet Stadium. The meet will feature some unique events such as the 600-meter and the 4x200 relay as well as some standard indoor events such as the 60-meter and 60-meter hurdles. Sacramento State won both the men’s and women’s Big Sky Conference indoor championships last season. The team will begin its 2009 season on Jan. 31.

The gymnastics team enters 2009 having won seven conference championships in the last nine years. The Hornets will divide their squad into two teams for Friday’s meet and will compete in all four events (vault, bars, beam and floor). The meet will begin at 7:30 inside the Hornets Nest. Sacramento State’s first meet for 2009 will be on Sat., Jan. 10, when it travels to Cal to take on the Golden Bears and UC Davis.

Admission to both events is free.
