Senior Ivan Ramirez continued his brilliant run with an early goal on a Penalty Kick but Saint Mary’s was able to net an equalizer in the 74th minute in a 1-1 draw against Sacramento State on Saturday at Hornet Field.

FOOTBALL EDGED AT IDAHO STATE, 42-34
The Sacramento State offense had its most productive day of the year, but Idaho State had three touchdowns on plays of at least 60 yards as well as a defensive touchdown to spark the Bengals to a 42-34 victory over the Hornets in the Big Sky opener for both teams.

Sacramento State took the lead just 57 seconds into the game and led 2-0 less than 14 minutes in en route to a 2-0 victory at Southern Utah to open Big Sky Conference play.

Sacramento State scored twice in the first seven minutes of the game and, after No. 15 Utah Valley equalized, took a 3-2 lead in the 41st minute then held the Wolverines scoreless in the second half for a 3-2 win on Thursday at Hornet Field.

Sacramento State senior Aaron Beverly has been named the Big Sky Men’s Golfer of the Week, it was announced today. The honor is the first for Beverly this season and the fifth of his career.

Senior Aaron Beverly tied for fourth place and the Sacramento State men’s golf team was fifth among 18 team at the Ram Masters Invitational on Tuesday at the Fort Collins Country Club.

BECKER LEADS WOMEN'S GOLF IN FINAL ROUND OF COUGAR CUP
The Sacramento State women’s golf team shot 289 during the final round of the WSU Cougar Cup and finished in fourth place with a total of 879. The single-round total was the third best in program history while the three-round mark is the second best, trailing only the 869 at last season’s Big Sky Championships.

FOOTBALL OPENS BIG SKY PLAY AT IDAHO STATE ON SATURDAY
The Sacramento State football team will see a new beginning to its 2016 season when the Hornets start Big Sky Conference play on Saturday, Sept. 24, against Idaho State. The game against the Bengals will begin at 1:30 p.m. PT from Holt Arena and will serve as ISU’s Homecoming.

Sacramento State took an early lead on a goal from junior Andrea Boehm in the 11th minute but Saint Mary’s came back with two goals in the second half and held the Hornets to just four total shots in the game to pick up a 2-1 win on Sunday at Hornet Field.
