Sacramento State freshmen Annie Juarez and Lauren Rice were recognized as the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation specialist and newcomer of the week, respectively, it was announced today.

CONIGLIO NAMED BIG SKY FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Sacramento State senior Zach Coniglio was named the Big Sky Conference Male Indoor Field Athlete of the Week, it was announced today. The honor is the first for Coniglio this season and the fourth of his career.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL FACES ROAD CHALLENGES IN MONTANA
On a program record seven-game Big Sky winning streak, conference leading Sacramento State (9-10, 7-1 Big Sky) opens a three game road swing this week. The team faces Montana State (7-11, 1-6 Big Sky) at 6 p.m. Pacific time Thursday and second-place Montana (13-5, 6-1 Big Sky) at 1 p.m. Saturday.

Mikh McKinney put on a show yet again, scoring 27 of his career-high 33 points in the second half to lead the Hornets to a 78-71 road win at Weber State.

Sacramento State athletes finished first in six events and set 12 school top 10 marks at the Bronco Invitational on Saturday. The meet was the first of the indoor season for the Hornets.

WOMEN’S TENNIS FALLS TO SAN JOSÉ STATE
The Sacramento State duo of juniors Olivia Boija and Jennifer Nguyen earned a 6-1 win at No. 2 doubles but visiting San José State won the two other doubles matches and all six singles contests for a 7-0 win on Saturday at Rio Del Oro Racquet Club.

After a 31-point win over Idaho State on Thursday Sacramento State outdid itself on Saturday, tying the program record for margin of victory in a Big Sky game with a 108-65 rout over Weber State.

GYMNASTICS SCORES SEASON HIGH IN CAUSEWAY VICTORY
Led by a career high 39.025 in the all-around from freshman Lauren Rice, the Sacramento State gymnastics team scored a season-high in a 194.925-194.800 victory over UC Davis on Friday night at The Nest. The score was also a season best for the Aggies.

Sacramento State tied the Big Sky single game record with 28 steals, forcing 33 total turnovers, and led by 31 at halftime after a huge first half in an 84-53 win over Idaho State.

Zach Mills (0:13.3) and Trevis Jackson (0:1.6) both hit a pair of clutch free throws over the final 15 seconds to help the Hornets secure a 62-59 road win at Idaho State.

GYMNASTICS HOSTS UC DAVIS ON FRIDAY NIGHT
The Sacramento State gymnastics team returns home on Friday, Jan. 23, to face UC Davis at the Hornets Nest at 7 p.m. The meet against the Aggies is the second of four this season but the only dual meet between the two teams.

WOMEN’S TENNIS DROPS SEASON OPENER VS. SAN FRANCISCO, 5-2
In its first match of the 2015 spring season Sacramento State narrowly lost the doubles point and fell in three close singles matches - all in which the Hornets won the first set - as visiting San Francisco pulled out a 5-2 win on Wednesday at Rio Del Oro Racquet Club.

Mikh McKinney was selected among the best mid-major basketball players in the country and named to the Lou Henson Award Mid-Major Watch List.

FOOTBALL ADDS THREE DURING MIDYEAR PERIOD
he Sacramento State football team added its first players to the 2015 recruiting class, it was announced today by head coach Jody Sears. The group is comprised of two quarterbacks who are transferring from Football Bowl Subdivision schools and a high school linebacker. All three will enroll at the University for the spring semester and take part in spring practice.
