McCARTNEY BEGINS NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS ON FRIDAY
Junior Kalliah McCartney will make Sacramento State history when she competes in the first session of the NCAA Women's Gymnastics Championships on Friday in Birmingham, Ala. McCartney will begin the competition at 11 a.m. PDT in BJCC Arena.

LEITAO LEADS BASEBALL TO 5-0 SHUTOUT OF UTAH VALLEY
Junior Brennan Leitao recorded a career-high nine strikeouts over six scoreless innings and the Hornets tallied two runs in the second inning and three more in the third en route to a 5-0 shutout of Utah Valley in the first game of the weekend WAC series.

Sacramento State (22-14, 10-2 WAC) looks to bounce back from its first conference series loss of the year and maintain its place atop the WAC standings in a three game home series vs. Utah Valley (14-20, 7-5 WAC). Game times are 3 p.m. Thursday, 3 p.m. Friday, and 2 p.m. Saturday at John Smith Field.

TAYLOR VICTORIOUS AT OGIO UC SANTA BARBARA INTERCOLLEGIATE
Junior Owen Taylor shot 70 to claim his first individual collegiate title on Tuesday at the OGIO UC Santa Barbara Intercollegiate. The Sacramento State men recorded the second lowest team score of the day but finished in third place with a three-round total of 872.

BASEBALL BLASTS UC DAVIS 15-7
Sacramento State struck for a season-high 19 hits and used a seven-run fourth inning to open a big early lead and cruise to a 15-7 win on Tuesday at UC Davis.

MEN'S GOLF IN SECOND; TAYLOR THIRD AT OGIO UCSB INTERCOLLEGIATE
Freshman Robert Parden shot led Sacramento State with a round of 71 in the opening round and Owen Taylor had a team-best 68 in the second round of the OGIO UC Santa Barbara Intercollegiate on Monday at Sandpiper Golf Club.

FREE CHEVY YOUTH BASEBALL CLINIC COMING TO CAMPUS MAY 3 AND 4
The Chevy Youth Baseball Clinic is returning to Sacramento State on Saturday, May 3, and Sunday, May 4. The free event will take place from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. on both days at John Smith Field before the Hornet baseball team plays home games against Chicago State.

Sacramento State had leads of 3-0 and 5-3 but Grand Canyon rallied for three runs in the sixth inning and two runs in the seventh and withstood a ninth-inning rally to record an 8-6 win in the rubber game of a three-game set in Phoenix.
