Luke Kristo matched his career best with a round of 67 and Robert Parden tied for ninth overall to guide the Sacramento State men's golf team in the final round of the Nick Watney Invitational on Tuesday.

Sacramento State junior Chloe Berlioux was named the Big Sky Conference's Female Cross Country Athlete of the Week, it was announced today. The honor is the first for Berlioux during her career.

Sophomore Robert Parden recorded rounds of 71 and 72 and is tied for 11th place following the first day of the Nick Watney Invitational on Monday at Sunnyside Country Club.

WOMEN’S TENNIS OPENS FALL PLAY AT CAL NIKE INVITATIONAL
The Sacramento State women’s tennis team opened fall play over the weekend at the Cal Nike Invitational. Eight Hornets competed in the three-day, 13-team tournament running Friday through Sunday.

SANDE TIES FOR FOURTH AT COWGIRL INTERCOLLEGIATE
Rockelle Sande matched her highest career finish by tying for fourth place at the Wyoming Cowgirl Desert Intercollegiate on Sunday at The Classic Club. Sande shot 79 during the final round and finished at 10-over par for the three-round tournament. Her total of 225 equaled her career best which previously came at the 2014 Big Sky Championships last April.

MEN’S SOCCER ENDS NON-CONFERENCE PLAY WITH LOSS AT BAKERSFIELD
Bakersfield took a 1-0 lead on a penalty kick in the first half and scored four more times in the second half to defeat the Hornets 5-0 on Sunday afternoon.

WOMEN’S SOCCER DROPS BIG SKY GAME AT NORTHERN ARIZONA
Northern Arizona forward Haley Wingender scored her Big Sky-leading sixth goal of the season in the 67th minute and Lumberjack goalkeeper Natalie Gilbertson made six saves as NAU defeated Sacramento State 1-0 on Sunday in Flagstaff.

Rockelle Sande shot 75-71 and is in second place following the first day of the Wyoming Cowgirl Desert Intercollegiate on Saturday at The Classic Club. Sande’s second round score was a career best.

FOOTBALL NOT ABLE TO KEEP PACE WITH IDAHO STATE IN 44-24 LOSS
Sacramento State posted 532 yards of total offense and received career days from Nnamdi Agude and DeAndre Carter but the team was unable to control Idaho State’s offensive attack in a 44-24 loss on Saturday at Holt Arena.

Juniors Chloe Berlioux and Jacob Huston led the Sacramento State women’s and women’s cross country teams at the Stanford Invitational on Saturday. It marked the third consecutive meet that the pair have had the top times on their respective teams.

MEN’S SOCCER PLAYS SAINT MARY’S TO A 1-1 DRAW IN PHYSICAL BATTLE
In a tremendously physical game with 10 yellow cards and 37 fouls whistled Sacramento State took a lead late in the first half on a goal by senior Chimdum Mez before Saint Mary’s drew even in the 84th minute and the game ended in a 1-1 draw in double overtime.

WOMEN’S SOCCER DROPS BIG SKY OPENER AT SOUTHERN UTAH 2-1
In a game that included a 70 minute lightning delay, Sacramento State pulled even on a goal by redshirt freshman Emily Hooper in the 72nd minute but Southern Utah got a game winner with less than five minutes remaining in regulation to secure a 2-1 win.

SACRAMENTO STATE WOMEN’S ATHLETICS TO HOST OKTOBERFEST ON OCT. 4
The Sacramento State athletics department will host its first-ever Oktoberfest event on Saturday, Oct. 4, with all proceeds going towards scholarships for Hornet female student-athletes.

MEN’S SOCCER CONCLUDES HOMESTAND FRIDAY VS. SAINT MARY’S
In the seventh and final game of its program record long homestand the Sacramento State men’s soccer team (2-4-1) hosts Saint Mary’s (5-2-0) on Friday at 4 p.m. The Hornets will also play at Bakersfield (5-1-1) at 1 p.m. Sunday to conclude the non-conference portion of their schedule with Big West play opening next week.

WOMEN’S SOCCER READIES TO OPEN BIG SKY PLAY THIS WEEKEND
Entering Big Sky Conference play with a winning record for the first time since 2009, Sacramento State (5-4-0) opens its league schedule on the road this weekend, playing at Southern Utah (3-3-1) at 3 p.m. Friday and facing Northern Arizona (4-3-1) at noon Sunday.
