BASEBALL ELIMINATES UTAH VALLEY AND NORTH DAKOTA TO ADVANCE
Sacramento State put together two strong offensive and pitching performances to run away with wins in a pair of elimination games on Friday at the WAC Tournament, knocking out Utah Valley 9-3 before a 10-2 rout of North Dakota in the second game.

NICHOLS DEALS BASEBALL PAST NORTHERN COLORADO 5-0 IN WAC TOURNAMENT
Sacramento State senior right handed pitcher Ty Nichols threw eight shutout innings allowing just one hit and the Hornet offense pushed across five runs on nine hits in a 5-0 win in an elimination game Thursday at the WAC Tournament.

BASEBALL TOPPED BY UTAH VALLEY IN 10 INNINGS IN WAC TOURNAMENT OPENER
Sacramento State came back from 1-0 and 2-1 deficits to force extra innings but could not rally a third time as Utah Valley scored a go-ahead run in the top of the tenth inning and finished a 3-2 win in the opening game of the 2015 WAC Tournament Wednesday in Mesa.

HORNET WOMEN WIN BIG SKY ALL-SPORTS TROPHY; DEPARTMENT IS 2ND OVERALL
For the fifth time in eight years, Sacramento State has won the Big Sky Conference Women’s All-Sports Trophy, and the department finished second in the all-sports overall athletic points standings.

BASEBALL LOOKING TO DEFEND TITLE AT WAC TOURNAMENT
Sacramento State (30-25, 16-11 WAC) heads to Arizona looking to repeat as WAC Tournament champion and once again represent the conference in the NCAA Regionals. As the No. 4 seed the Hornets will open tournament play on Wednesday at 3 p.m. against fifth-seeded Utah Valley (18-33, 14-13 WAC) at Hohokam Stadium in Mesa, Ariz.

Grand Canyon came back from an early 2-0 deficit to force extra innings and got a game-winning 2-run home run from third baseman Ben Mauseth in the 11th inning to pick up a 4-2 win on Friday at John Smith Field.

In a 2-2 game in the bottom of the eighth inning Sacramento State senior shortstop Scotty Burcham hit his third in home run in the last two games and freshman Vinny Esposito added a solo shot the lead the Hornets to a 5-2 win over Grand Canyon in the first of a three-game series.
