Sacramento State won the doubles point and was strong in singles play, but fell to Big Sky Conference opponent Montana State, 4-3, on Saturday at the Bobcat-Anderson Tennis Center.

No. 73 Sacramento State swept it's doubleheader against Big Sky Conference opponents, Montana and Montana State, on Saturday at the Rio Del Oro Racquet Club.

Casey Wheeler finished first in the 400-hurdles and ran the seventh-fastest time in the school history to lead Sacramento State during the final day of the Aztec Invitational on Saturday.

Sacramento State sophomore pitcher Sam Long took a no-hitter into the eighth inning and junior Sutter McLoughlin tied the WAC record with his 29th career save as the Hornets topped New Mexico State 1-0 on Saturday at John Smith Field.

Sacramento State senior Erinn Jones set the school record in the hammer throw and four other athletes recorded top 10 marks in the multi events during the second day of the Aztec Invitational at San Diego State.

BASEBALL WITHSTANDS LATE NEW MEXICO STATE RALLY FOR 8-7 WIN
Visiting New Mexico State rallied for three runs in the top of the ninth inning but Hornet junior Sutter McLoughlin was able to get the last two outs and strand the potential tying run on base for an 8-7 win in the opener of a three-game WAC series at John Smith Field.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL FALLS TO SAINT MARY’S 77-69 IN WNIT THIRD ROUND
Sacramento State was able to rally from down 13 points to take a five-point lead midway through the second half but Saint Mary’s came back to break a late tie and complete a 77-69 win on Thursday night in The Nest.

TRACK & FIELD STARTS AZTEC INVITATIONAL WITH MULTI
Four Sacramento State student-athletes took part in the first day of the Aztec Invitational multi competition on Thursday. Kassandra Corrigan and Elizabeth Venzon completed the first four events of the heptathlon while Alec Acevedo and Max Jette took part in the first half of the decathlon.

Head coach Brian Katz was named the District 6 Coach of the Year, and senior guard Mikh McKinney was named first team all-District 6.

SOFTBALL POUNDS OUT FOUR RUNS AND 10 HITS, BUT FALLS TO #16 CAL, 13-4
Sacramento State had 10 hits, including home runs from Paige Martin and Alexa Chattleton, but the Hornets had trouble stopping the nation’s 16th ranked team on the way to a 13-4 loss to Cal.

BASEBALL BACK HOME FOR WAC SERIES STARTING FRIDAY VS NEW MEXICO STATE
After a three-game sweep of Texas-Pan American last weekend Sacramento State (13-10, 3-0 WAC) returns to John Smith Field for a three-game set with New Mexico State (4-17-1, 1-1-1 WAC). The series starts at 3 p.m. Friday and continues at 1 p.m. Saturday and noon Sunday.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL HOSTS SAINT MARY’S THURSDAY IN WNIT ROUND OF 16
Sacramento State (18-15) has reached the “sweet 16” of the 64-team 2015 Women’s National Invitation Tournament and will host Saint Mary’s (22-10) in a third round game at 7 p.m. Thursday in The Nest. The winner will advance to the quarterfinals of the tournament to face either UCLA or Northern Colorado, who also play at 7 p.m. Thursday.

Sacramento State (13-16, 3-0) is back in action this week at home against #16 Cal (23-6) on Wednesday before jumping back into conference play this weekend for a three-game series vs. league newcomer Montana (5-22, 1-2).
