PITCHER LEITAO NAMED LOUISVILLE SLUGGER PRESEASON ALL-AMERICAN
Sacramento State senior right-handed pitcher Brennan Leitao has been named to the Louisville Slugger Preseason All-American Third Team selected by Collegiate Baseball Newspaper.

MEN’S SOCCER MAKES 15TH ANNUAL VISIT TO UC DAVIS CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL
On Wednesday five members of the Sacramento State men’s soccer team visited the UC Davis Children’s Hospital to meet the patients and spread some holiday cheer. It was the 15th consecutive season that the men’s soccer program had players visit the Children’s Hospital before the holidays.

CARTER ADDS FCS ADA AWARD TO HIS RESUME
Sacramento State's DeAndre Carter was selected as the top wide receiver in the Football Championship Subdivision by The Division I Football Championship Subdivision Athletics Directors Association (FCS ADA). The second annual award recognizes the top student-athletes from FCS institutions at 11 different positions. The 2014 class includes student-athletes from 10 different institutions, representing five different conferences. Voting was conducted by a national panel, consisting of media and SIDs.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL RETURNS HOME TO HOST UTAH STATE FRIDAY
After nearly a month since their last home game the Sacramento State women’s basketball team (1-8) finally returns to The Nest to host Utah State (3-7) at 7 p.m. Friday. The Hornets will then go back on the road to conclude their non-conference schedule facing former head coach Jamie Craighead and San José State (5-4) on Monday at 2 p.m.

Sacramento State wide receiver DeAndre Carter continued to haul in national awards as he was named second team All-America by the Associated Press, it was announced today.

CARTER EARNS ALL-AMERICA HONORS FROM TWO ORGANIZATIONS
Sacramento State senior wide receiver DeAndre Carter earned a spot on a pair of Football Championship All-America teams, it was announced today. Carter was one of two receivers named to the Walter Camp Football Foundation and also earned first team honors from College Sports Madness.

Despite an incredible performance from Mikh McKinney and the Hornets having two possessions to take the lead in the game’s final minute, Sacramento State fell to Portland, 80-75.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL COMES CLOSE AGAIN BUT FALLS SHORT AT USC, 101-99
Senior Fantasia Hilliard equaled her career high with 28 points and the Hornets led by as many as 11 points in the second half before USC used a 13-2 run to pull even and was able to finish off a 101-99 win on Sunday in Los Angeles.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL PUSHES UCLA BUT TAKES A SLIM 92-83 LOSS
Sacramento State trailed UCLA by just two points with nine minutes to play and was still within four points in the final two minutes but wasn’t able to draw even or pull ahead as the Bruins escaped with a 92-83 win on Friday night in Pauley Pavilion.

The Sacramento State gymnastics team will hold its first public event on Friday, Dec. 12, with its annual FlipFest. The intrasquad meet will begin at 7 p.m. in the Hornets Nest and is free to the public.

Sacramento State (1-6) concludes a stretch of four consecutive games against Pac-12 opponents with two more challenging matchups this weekend in Los Angeles. The Hornets will play at UCLA (2-4) at 7 p.m. Friday and take on USC (6-2) on Sunday at 2 p.m.

No. 17 Oregon State won its 14th consecutive home game dating back to last year and improved to 7-0 on the season after building an early lead and running away with a 109-61 victory over Sacramento State on Saturday in Corvallis.
